Dear friend...

Thank you for your interest in my babysitting service. I started babysitting in my teenage years and now work with children full-time as a qualified nanny and babysitter.

Nicks Babysitting Service was established in 1989 to provide parents in Berkshire, Surrey and North Hampshire with a reliable, evening babysitter.

Many of the families for whom I work started using my babysitting service when their children were toddlers or babies. Finding a reliable babysitter for a young baby is not easy, while older children can be left in the care of a teenager, I find that most parents with young children prefer to leave their children in the care of a qualified and experienced nanny.

Meeting Families First

Many parents are apprehensive when leaving their children for the first time with a babysitter, like Mrs Hartley. Having provided my evening babysitting service for over 16 years, along with having worked in pre-schools/playgroups and children's day nurseries I am aware that it can be difficult to leave your children with what is essentially a complete stranger.

To help you and your children I always meet families before agreeing to babysit. This meeting typically lasts around 30 minutes and helps us all as it:

• Your children get to interact with me, get to know me a little, play their favourite game, show me around their home
• You get to meet me, before I babysit for the first time
• You can look at my portfolio of qualification certificates, criminal record checks, OFSTED clearance, and First Aid training
• You can look at my portfolio of testimonials/references - parents like you have written these having been delighted by the babysitting service I provide
• I get to ask you questions regarding your children's medical history - this is important as I need to know of any allergies, medical conditions and any current medication they may be taking
• Plus it allows me to locate your home during daylight hours

Different to a Babysitting Agency

You may have heard of Babysitting Agencies. Over the past few years these have become increasing popular as parents find it harder to find reliable evening babysitters. Nicks Babysitting Service is different from the babysitting agencies you see advertised in parenting magazines.

Like Mrs Harper, I feel that it is very important to meet families first, before babysitting. I find that children much prefer knowing who is caring for them, rather than being left in the care of a complete stranger. While some of the babysitting agencies do try to get you the same babysitter every time, they can not give you any guarantees.

I on the other hand can give you this guarantee.

How can I guarantee you this, easy... I myself am the babysitter. I am a qualified and experienced nanny, who has cared for a huge number of children since I first started working in childcare in 1989. Having worked in pre-school/playgroup, children's day nurseries and with families like you own, I have over the years cared for children aged from 3-days old to teenagers.

A Male Babysitter... Are You Sure?

Some parents contact me as they are very interested in using my babysitting service but have concerns about me being male. You needn't be concerned as like other childcare professionals, my background has been thoroughly checked by both OFSTED and the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). Plus I provide numerous testimonials and can put you in contact with current clients if you still have any concerns following meeting me.

You Say You Are Qualified, How Does That Benefit Me?

By having a qualified nanny care for your children, you have the reassurance that should anything happen while you are away from home, I will be able to resolve the issue.

When I babysit, some children are already in bed... others are not. I do not mind either way, as with young it is best to sick with their usual routine, so I will take over that routine at whatever point you are at, should that mean bathing the children, reading them a bedtime story, or monitoring their sleep.

Children can wake during the night for many reasons. Having a qualified nanny care for your children means that should your children wake while I am babysitting, I can reassure and comfort your child if they are upset, resolve any difficulty there may be (lost teddy, need a feed, dirty nappy, wet bed etc.) and get the child back to sleep as soon as possible.

Being qualified in First Aid, should an emergency situation occur, I can provide immediate First Aid treatment. I have to say that so far this has not been necessary when caring for children at night, though there is always a first time for everything, so it's good to be prepared.

My qualifications and First Aid training are:

• CACHE Diploma in Nursery Nursing (NNEB)
• OCN Maternity Practitioner Award
• St. John's Ambulance Early Years First Aid

What Childcare Services Are Provided

Registration is FREE - There is no booking fee

Evening Babysitting - Cost: £10 per hour, 3 hour minimum charge
This is the most popular type of childcare that I provide. Typically I arrive and take over from yourselves so that you are able to get ready to go out. This can mean finishing preparing the evening meal for the children, bathing the children, reading them bedtime stories and putting them to bed. Once in bed, I check on their well being at regular intervals and for babies give them their late evening bottle.

Daytime Childcare - Cost: £10 per hour, 3 hour minimum charge
I work as a nanny during school term time, so daytime childcare is provided during school holidays and at weekends. Daytime childcare can be from just a few hours so that you have time to go shopping without children, to all day care. Emergency Nanny service available during school holidays, should your regular nanny call in sick.

Long Weekends, Full Weeks 24-Hour - Cost: £150 per 24-hour period

Terms and Conditions - 2006

• Cancellations: 24 hours notice must be given. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time, or if you cancel when I arrive 3 hours fee is payable.
• The minimum charge is equivalent to 3 hours.
• Payment should be made to in cash, or cheque by arrangement.
• It is the client’s responsibility to give details/instructions and written authority concerning any medicines to be administered.
• It is the client’s responsibility to inform the sitter and the children of what time bedtime is, and please let me know your usual bedtime routine.
• Clients may not require domestic chores to be done, other than those directly associated with the care of the children - such as preparing meals, changing nappies and tidying away toys which have been played with during the course of the sitting.
• If evening babysitting is to start before 7pm, dinner is to be provided.
• When providing daytime childcare, all meals during working hours are to be provided.
• All bookings are subject to availability.
• These terms and conditions can be varied at any time. Should a variation be required, you will be notified at least 30 days prior to commencement of the new terms and conditions.
